VSB – Technical University of Ostrava owns several photovoltaic power plants which are operated in local distribution system (LDS) and monitored by our control room 365 days a year.
All the power plants are controlled from our central control room, ensuring efficient monitoring and management of operations. The picture shows the LDS borders, highlighting the boundaries of our energy network. The 587.8 kWp power plants were built starting from 2002, and over time, we have observed a gradual decrease in output and efficiency in the older units. This decline can be attributed to factors such as aging equipment, wear and tear, and evolving technology. Efforts are underway to optimize performance through regular maintenance, upgrades, and incorporating more advanced solutions to extend their lifespan and improve overall energy production.
After certain time any photovoltaic power plant reaches a condition at which it is close to critical limit. In this case it has to be shut down by the control room operators.
