“I had the opportunity to tour LIKAT’s extensive laboratory facilities, including a unique technology transfer park dedicated to scaling up organic transformations for industrial use. Beyond conducting excellent research, our colleagues at LIKAT successfully transfer two to three technologies into industrial practice each year—an exceptional achievement. Among their industrial partners are major chemical companies such as Evonik Industries,” said Professor Zbořil.
The MEL team is currently collaborating with LIKAT researchers on several joint projects focused on single-atom catalysis and the use of catalysts for organic synthesis and biomass valorisation.
“We have agreed with Professor Beller to establish a system for medium-term staff exchange placements. We also plan to expand our collaboration into new areas, including photocatalysis and catalytic hydrogen production from organic sources. Last but not least, we are jointly preparing a major project proposal for the European Teaming call, focused on single-atom engineering, in collaboration with colleagues from the University of Cambridge and the Karolinska Institute in Sweden,” Zbořil concluded.
