The conference brought together representatives of companies and academic institutions that have made a significant mark in the field of nanotechnology on a global scale. For example, Brno electron microscopes, which are used for materials research in many laboratories around the world, technologies for the production of nanofibres by electrostatic wetting or the application of iron-based nanomaterials in groundwater remediation were presented.
"In my presentation I pointed out that it has been almost 40 years since the first nanomaterial was developer. I therefore tried to indicate where nanotechnology is going and where we want to take our research at the Nanotechnology Centre. These include, for example, the sophisticated design of nanomaterials using computational approaches and machine learning, or technologies for controlling material properties using atomic engineering. I showed some of the research results in these areas that have been achieved in collaboration with colleagues in Olomouc, Trieste, and Rostock, which are aimed at the use of new materials for sustainable energy, biomedicine, and the environment," Zbořil desribed his participation in the conference.
The conference was organised by the Regional development agency together with the Liberec Region, the Technical University of Liberec and the CzechInvest agency. The conference aims to become the largest meeting of its kind in the Czech Republic.
