In September 2025, the picturesque surroundings of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids became a meeting place for experts, scientists and industry representatives from around the world. The 28th annual Energy and Environment Conference confirmed its status as one of the most important platforms dedicated to sustainable energy and environmental protection. The programme, full of expert lectures, discussions and informal meetings, demonstrated that the topic of energy is now perceived not only as a technical issue, but also as a fundamental social and global challenge.
A conference that combines science and practice
"The Energy and Environment Conference is unique in that it brings together practitioners and leading scientists to address the topic of sustainable energy in one place. This area is key not only for the conference, our centre and our university, but especially for the world, because it encompasses social, economic and environmental dimensions," said Stanislav Mišák, director of CEET.
The success of this year's conference was also confirmed by Jiří Ryšavý, co-organiser of the event: "I consider this year's Energy and Environment Conference very successful because, in addition to the traditionally strong participation of industrial partners, we also welcomed prominent scientists and researchers from four continents and ten countries worldwide."
Professional Programme and International Participation
The conference programme was divided into scientific and industrial sections. The scientific section presented the latest findings from research and academia, featuring more than 20 highly specialised presentations, with additional research results displayed in poster form. Topics discussed included innovative membranes for electrolysers, advanced materials in energy, and the integration of AI into energy systems.
The industrial section focused on practical applications and solutions used in industry. This section highlighted topics such as CCS/CCU, hydrogen production, increasing operational efficiency, and life cycle assessment (LCA) of products.
From the Beskydy Mountains to Ostrava
Following the main programme in the Beskydy Mountains, participants enjoyed an accompanying programme in Ostrava. This took place at the Energy Research Centre (VEC), where Jiří Ryšavý and Jakub Čespíva personally presented selected technologies and projects of the centre. The excursion offered a unique insight into how the results of scientific research are reflected in everything from experimental equipment to real-world applications. For many guests, it was an inspiring conclusion to the entire meeting.
Acknowledgements to Partners and Invitation to Next Year’s Event
The event was organised by the Centre for Energy and Environmental Technologies (CEET) and the Energy Research Centre (VEC), in cooperation with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Energy.
The conference was made possible thanks to the support of partners, including Sumitomo SHI FW Energia Polska Sp. z o.o., EGÚ Brno, a.s., Politechnika Warszawska, Fraunhofer ICT, Veolia, SIAD S.p.A., RMT, and ČEZ, as well as a grant from the Moravian-Silesian Region.
The next, 29th edition of the Energy and Environment Conference will take place on 7–9 September 2026.
