The event attracted nearly 30 participants from academia and industry and offered a diverse program focused on the monitoring and removal of micropollutants from the environment.
During the two-day program, nine expert presentations were delivered by specialists from IET, Dekonta, a.s., and international universities – Uniwersytet Warmińsko-Mazurski w Olsztynie, Uniwersytet Warszawski, and NMBU – Norwegian University of Life Sciences.
“We were very pleased to welcome colleagues from international universities and Dekonta. Sharing research results, experiences, and various perspectives on the current challenges related to micropollutants is extremely valuable. Today’s meeting brought inspiration and new impulses for further cooperation,” said Dr. Martina Vráblová, head of the Water Treatment and Analysis research group.
The main topics discussed during the workshop included:
removal of micropollutants from water using innovative methods,
impacts of PFAS substances on water quality,
issues related to antibiotic resistance,
pyrolysis of sewage sludge,
photoreforming of microplastics,
analysis of microplastics from ice surfaces.
On the second day, the workshop continued with a visit to a wastewater treatment plant, where participants had the opportunity to learn about its operation, visit laboratories, and explore best practices in both laboratory and operational procedures. The excursion provided valuable insights into the daily processes and technologies used for effective wastewater treatment.
The program also included a tour of the IET laboratories, which familiarized participants with the facilities for experimental research and showcased the instrumentation of the Large Research Infrastructure ENREGAT.
The event supported the exchange of experience, strengthened international cooperation, and offered participants new perspectives on current challenges associated with the protection of the water environment.
