For one day, staff of the Centre for Energy and Environmental Technologies (CEET) swapped laboratory instruments and desks for fresh mountain air. Following the success of last year’s event, they once again set out for the picturesque Beskydy region, this time with the aim of reaching the summit of Radhošť.
The route to the peak, crowned by the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius, provided participants not only with a sporting challenge but above all with impressive panoramic views of the Beskydy ridges. Everyone could choose their own pace and way up—whether opting for the full hike on foot or taking the cable car to Pustevny.
During the day, the group also stopped at the iconic statue of the pagan god Radegast, one of the region’s main symbols. Participants likewise had the opportunity to admire the unique Art Nouveau architecture of Dušan Jurkovič, particularly the renowned Libušín and Maměnka buildings.
The main aim of the day was to foster team spirit, encourage employees towards a healthy lifestyle, and give them a well-earned opportunity to unwind. The informal setting beyond the walls of the laboratories proved to be an ideal space for strengthening relationships among colleagues across all departments.
“I would like to thank all my colleagues who chose to spend the university sports day together in the beautiful surroundings of the Beskydy Mountains. It was wonderful to have the chance to slow down for a moment, meet outside the daily work routine, and chat—about work as well as entirely different things. The whole afternoon passed surprisingly quickly, which for me is the best sign that the event was truly a success. I appreciate all the more that, despite their many work commitments, employees found the time to take part. I will be very pleased if even more people join next time, because these gatherings really do matter. I look forward to our next shared moments,” said Stanislav Mišák, Director of CEET.
The sports day in the Beskydy landscape was met with a very positive response. It allowed all participants to recharge their energy and find new inspiration, once again confirming the importance of such activities in building a strong and cohesive team.
