Nanotechnology Centre has two new excellent scientists in the field of materials research for advanced batteries

From 23 to 25 April, scientists from major foreign institutions visited the Nanotechnology Centre, where they are engaged in research and development of advanced Li-batteries and flow batteries.

From Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, came Prof. Vijay Ramani, who currently serves as the Vice Provost for Teaching of Master's and Doctoral Studies. At his home University, he leads a research group on the development of materials for Li-batteries, flow batteries and also the process associated with recycling.

From Sakarya University in Turkey came Prof. Hatem Akbulut and Assoc. Tugrul Cetinkaya, who are founding members of the Research and Application Centre (SARGEM). The centre mainly research focus is the development of new types of batteries, including those based on materials that do not require an inert atmosphere and can operate in air.

The two representatives of major foreign universities have been working with Prof. Martynkova's group for a decade. Their cooperation is based on joint research and also on mutual exchange of students and young collaborators. Last year, three PhD students completed a three-month internship at the SARGEM research centre at Sakarya University. This year, as every year, students from Sakarya University will also come to Ostrava.

All participants perceive the opportunity to collaborate on important projects at VŠB-TUO as very positive and we are glad that both professors are involved in the research team of the strategic project REFRESH, within the framework of the Living Energy Lab and also in the MATUR project in the team of doc. Hružík and prof. Martynkova.

"We are delighted that both scientists are involved in joint research and we hope to build a strong international team in the next few years. The environment was friendly and the scientists had the opportunity to see not only the CNT laboratories, but also the unique laboratory facilities of the CEETe technology polygon," said Martynkova.

You can hear how both scientists perceive the cooperation in the video:
