We attended the SPASEC-27 and AOTs-28 conference
On 11-14 June 2024, colleagues from the Heterogeneous Photocatalysis and Heterogeneous Catalysis research groups attended the SPASEC-27 and AOTs-28 conferences held in Limassol, Cyprus.

Prof. Kamila Kočí, head of the research group Heterogeneous Photocatalysis, was a member of the international scientific committee and gave an invited lecture on photocatalytic CO2 reduction. Dr. Miroslava Filip Edelmann also presented a short lecture on this topic.

"The concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has been steadily increasing since the industrial revolution. This increase is mainly caused by the use of fossil fuels. The molecule of this inert gas is very stable, so its reduction is very complex and it is necessary to use high pressure or temperature. However, the solution is also photocatalytic reduction, in which carbon dioxide is converted into valuable products such as methane or methanol in the presence of a suitable photocatalyst and radiation," explains Prof. Kamila Kočí the importance of the topic under investigation.

Another interesting and topical topic is dealt with by the members of the research group Heterogeneous Catalysis, who presented their results concerning the catalytic oxidation of CO and VOC, on which they are collaborating in the National Energy Centre II project with the Energy Research Centre and the Nanotechnology Centre, in the poster section.
