The MES ITI project is mainly oriented towards industrial research within five joint research projects in the field of advanced materials, nanomaterials and nanocomposites for their application in energy and related environmental technologies. The project will bring together the application potential of the University of Applied Sciences and Technology together with partners from the application sphere to form a strong partnership of eleven entities.
The output of the project will be an assessment of the current state of the art, proposed solutions for development in the field of multifunctional materials and nanocomposites, advanced materials for the accumulation and storage of electrical energy, experimental methods and research of materials for solar energy conversion, energy materials, materials for the accumulation and transport of thermal energy and the removal of socio-economic barriers in the Ostrava metropolitan area.
This also includes the acquisition and modernisation of suitable and necessary equipment.
The project is supported by the Ministry of Education and Science under the Jan Amos Komenský Operational Programme and the Ostrava Regional ITI. All of these project partners have put their trust in the project promoter, which is VŠB-TUO, CEET, Centre for Nanotechnology. It cooperates closely with the staff from VŠB-TUO, FMT, Institute of Geonics of the CAS, Department of Social Geography and Regional Development and last but not least Faculty of Science, University of Ostrava.
At the kick off meeting of the MES ITI project, Daniela Plachá, Gražyna Simha Martynková, Bedřich Smetana, Kamil Postava and Jan Ženka presented their research plans. The project focuses on linking technical and social science research to break socio-economic barriers to the implementation of new technologies based on advanced materials in the Ostrava region. The meeting was also attended by partners from the application sphere, e.g. Borospace, s.r.o., MemBrain, s.r.o., Optical Cluster, representatives of public administration MSIC and MMR and also representatives of UJEP Ústí nad Labem.
One of the main goals of the project is to bring new and interesting topics to the Ostrava region that will attract young scientists and students and create attractive places for them in the region.
"This kick off meeting is the first joint meeting of all researchers and partners, both from the research field and partners from public administration and industry. The meeting was held in a very pleasant atmosphere and I believe that we will be able to achieve the results we have set out to achieve over the next four years and that by addressing our issues we will contribute to increasing the attractiveness of our region." noted Daniela Plachá.
