During the interactive excursion, students had the opportunity to see behind the scenes of research work that is not normally available to the public. In the laboratories, we introduced them to modern electron microscopy methods that allow us to look into the structure of materials at the micro- to nanometre level and to observe the fine structure of surfaces, the morphology of particles or the arrangement of individual layers with extreme precision.
The programme also included a playful exploration of chemistry - pupils were able to try simple but spectacular experiments where they literally mixed their own 'magic potions'. This part of the excursion was not only fun, but also educational, and awakened the children's interest in natural sciences.
The whole visit took place in a friendly atmosphere and we were very pleased with the curiosity, enthusiasm and joy of discovery that the pupils showed throughout. We thank the Bulgarian Primary School for the nice visit and we look forward to further meetings together in the spirit of science, creativity and cooperation!
