Simulated dry deposition of nanomaterials and assessment of its influence on plants using nuclear methods
Summary
Air pollution affects plants significantly, however most of the research – and especially the laboratory experiments – so far focused on wet deposition, the deposition of particulate matter and trace metals on the plants that is connected to precipitation. Hence, the connection between the dry deposition and accumulation in the plants, as well as the physiological effects it has on plants, is virtually unknown. In the frame of the proposed project, we will simulate the dry deposition in controlled environment and assess its impact on and accumulation in the exposed plants – medicinal plants (peppermint, sage) and mosses.
