Summary
The aim of the project is to research, develop and apply an innovative technology for treating ammonia-contaminated waste air using advanced oxidation processes, followed by pilot-scale testing. For this purpose, a pilot-scale unit will be developed and constructed for the treatment of large volumes of ammonia-containing air. The unit will operate on the principle of a wet scrubber combined with a photochemical oxidation stage.
It will subsequently be tested for the treatment of various types of waste air in which ammonia is the primary pollutant. These will include, in particular, waste air from agricultural production facilities, such as pig and poultry farms; biological feedstock and waste treatment facilities, such as biogas plants and composting facilities; and wastewater treatment plants, including conventional municipal and agricultural wastewater treatment plants.
