This prestigious conference, organized by the Czech Water Alliance since 1995, brings together science, technological innovation, and public administration to support sustainable water management. This year, the event welcomed more than 460 experts and also celebrated its 30th anniversary.
Our colleagues presented a poster titled “Methodology for Determining Microplastic Contamination in Ice from an Ice Hockey Rink”, demonstrating that microplastics can infiltrate even seemingly unusual environments and that studying them is essential for further protecting aquatic ecosystems.
This year’s conference topics included:
- Circularity and innovation in water management,
- Digitalization and smart operation control,
- New technologies for removing micropollutants and microplastics,
- Legislative frameworks for water protection,
- Traditional areas such as wastewater treatment, sludge management, and rainwater use in urban environments.
Participation in the conference provided not only inspiration and new contacts but also confirmed that Czech science has much to offer in the field of microplastics research.
The results presented at the conference were obtained using the equipment of the Large Research Infrastructure ENREGAT.
