Participation in the 51st SSCHI Conference in Jasná

From May 27 to 30, 2025, we participated in the 51st conference of the Slovak Society of Chemical Engineering (SSCHI), which took place in the beautiful surroundings of the Low Tatras in Jasná.

Our research activities were presented through three expert lectures:

Prof. Lucie Obalová delivered a plenary lecture titled "Replacement of trichloroethylene in the extraction of crude caprolactam", in which she focused on the search for safer and less toxic solvents in the refining process of caprolactam – a key raw material for the production of Nylon 6. The study combines Hansen solubility parameter calculations with experimental liquid-liquid equilibrium measurements to propose a suitable alternative to trichloroethylene, a commonly used carcinogenic extraction agent.

Dr. Kateřina Klemencová presented the results of her research in a lecture titled "Evaluation of the influence of additives in model mixtures on the quality of pyrolysis products". She focused on the influence of additives in polyolefin plastic mixtures during thermo-catalytic pyrolysis. The results showed that certain additives can increase the yield of light hydrocarbons and affect the formation of aromatic compounds, which significantly impacts the quality of recycled products and the efficiency of chemical plastic recycling.

Dr. Barbora Grycová, in her presentation "Start your research with LRI ENREGAT!", introduced the Large Research Infrastructure ENREGAT, which offers unique opportunities for both fundamental and applied research in the fields of waste processing and gas treatment – from laboratory to pilot scale. She also served as chair of the sessions focused on environmental engineering and process digitalization.

We would like to thank the organizers for a well-prepared conference, the inspiring professional atmosphere, and the opportunity to share and gain new insights!
