Two medals from Katowice! Application results by scientists from IET awarded at the INTARG® 2025 international exhibition
At the 18th annual INTARG® 2025 international exhibition of inventions and innovations in Katowice, colleagues from the Institute of Environmental Technologies (CEET) presented two applied results of the project “Support for cross-sectoral cooperation in the field of reducing pollutants in the environment and waste utilization.”

They brought home to Ostrava two awards!

The platinum award was granted to the patent "Pulse Reactive Engine and Unit for Energy Recovery from Biogas", authored by Ferdinand Madry, David Riemel, Tomáš Výtisk, and Jiří Rusín. This invention describes a pulse detonation engine designed to burn a mixture of biogas and hydrogen. It features a specific valve assembly and combustion chamber. A key innovation is the system of flexible valve flaps, allowing precise control of air intake and exhaust gas expansion, resulting in higher combustion efficiency and improved energy recovery.

The silver medal was awarded to the prototype "Combined Impactor for Micro Particles (PM10, PM2.5, and PM1)", developed by Libor Obal and Jakub Korpas. This device enables the separation of microparticles from a gas stream based on their aerodynamic properties. The design of the classification head allows for the capture not only of the common PM10 and PM2.5 fractions but also the finest PM1 particles, which are critical for air quality assessment and evaluating health impacts.

Congratulations to all the authors!
