With the financial support of the European Structural and Investment Funds, the Institute of Environmental Technologies (CEET, VŠB-TUO) is implementing a project called "Innovative technologies for a cleaner Ostrava region!!!" (CZ.02.01.01/00/23_021/0008588) in the period 1 January 2025 - 31 December 2028. The project was created within the framework of the Operational Programme Jan Amos Komenský (OP JAK), call: Inter-sectoral cooperation and inter-sectoral cooperation for ITI.
The aim of the INOVO!!! project is to establish and deepen long-term cooperation aimed at two-way transfer of information, knowledge and know-how in the framework of joint research of VŠB-TUO and OU with the application sphere in the field of current environmental topics. The research topics were initiated by the industrial partners involved in the project: DEKONTA a.s., Nano4people, s.r.o., BENEKOVterm, s.r.o., Veolia Energie ČR, a.s., RANIDO, s.r.o. and RPG Recycling, s.r.o.
An integral part of the research will be to address the socio-economic and geographical aspects of the implementation of achievements and innovations in the context of sustainable transition. The project also involves the Moravian-Silesian Innovation Centre Ostrava a.s. (MSIC) as an organisation ensuring the coordination of the development of a dynamic innovation ecosystem in MSK and the implementation of RIS3 MSK.
The joint research will be implemented in 2 research projects (RI) focused on (i) technologies for reducing air pollution by solid and gaseous substances (dust particles, heavy metals, volatile organic compounds, carbon dioxide, ammonia, oxides of nitrogen) from energy and other industrial processes, and (ii) technologies for the treatment and purification of wastewater from energy, including the reduction of newly identified pollutants (microplastics, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, perfluorinated and polyfluorinated substances, etc.) in the aquatic environment.
RI1 - Technologies for cleaner air
- Use of advanced oxidation processes for the removal of VOCs and other substances.
- Research on the reduction of nitrogen emissions by catalytic processes.
- Research and development of technology for comprehensive flue gas cleaning of particulate and gaseous pollutants.
- Research on the capture of CO2, metals and semi-metals on solid sorbents in flue gases.
- Research on the valorisation of waste materials into technological materials, energy raw materials and value-added products for the reduction of VOCs and other substances.
RI2 - Technologies for cleaner water
- Research on the treatment and purification of wastewater generated in the energy and raw materials processing sectors.
- Research on the reduction of newly identified pollutants (microplastics, pharmaceuticals, pesticides and others) in the aquatic environment.
RI3 - Socio-economic and geographical aspects of innovation implementation for a cleaner Ostrava region in the context of sustainable transition
- Socio-scientific research on clean air and relevant technologies and approaches.
- Socio-scientific research on water cleanliness and relevant technologies and approaches.
- Social science research on governance of transition to sustainability in clean tech.
