Limiting the global temperature increase to well below 2°C – if to 1.5°C: this is the international community's objective. Governments, the public, researchers and the private sector around the world are working together to achieve this goal. This requires significant reductions in emissions in agriculture, industry, transport and other sectors by 2050. How can we ensure a safe, affordable, emission-free and sustainable energy supply? The answer is a global energy transition. It includes energy from wind, solar, geothermal and marine heat, energy storage technologies, energy efficiency, new forms of mobility and the use of clean energy. The energy transformation opens up new global opportunities and possibilities.
