Structured catalysts with active oxide layer for abatement of gaseous pollutants

Summary
The project deals with preparation of structured mixed oxide catalysts for abatement of volatile organic compounds and nitrogen oxides
belonging to serious air pollutants. We intend to study formation of porous oxide interlayer for anchoring the active components and deposition
of transition metal mixed oxides on the ceramic and metal supports (monoliths and sieves). Factors influencing the deposition of active
components and relationships between supporting material, preparation method, physical chemical properties and activity, selectivity and
stability of the resulting products will be examined, as preparation of mixed oxide catalysts anchored on preformed supports has not been
studied in detail until now. We are going to develop supported mixed oxide catalysts with improved mechanical and thermal properties and
reduced amount of active components per mass unit of the catalyst, applicable in the catalytic VOC combustion and decomposition of N2O
and NO. Especially, simultaneous decomposition of N2O and NO in the low-temperature range (up to 450 °C) has not been solved yet.
