Materials-Envi Lab

The Materials and Environmental Laboratory focuses on the development of new carbon-based and metal-compound materials using materials chemistry, advanced surface deposition techniques and atomic-scale engineering. Low-dimensional materials (2D, 1D and 0D) are developed using computational design, enabling precise control of their structural and physicochemical properties at the level of individual atoms. The resulting technologies are applied in solar energy conversion, solar cells, photochemical hydrogen production, energy storage, heterogeneous catalysis, water treatment and biomedicine.

EBEAM

The research group conducts pioneering research in electron-beam-enabled manufacturing (EBEAM). We focus on fundamentally advancing the fabrication of materials at the nanoscale using state-of-the-art electron microscopy techniques, including SEM and TEM. Our work aims to develop advanced in situ control and monitoring systems, pushing the boundaries of additive manufacturing at the atomic and nanometre scales.

Our goal is to understand the fundamental scientific principles underlying this emerging technology. With a strong emphasis on practical applications, we investigate the synthesis of 2D materials and precisely fabricated structures for a wide range of fields, including electronics, renewable energy, catalysis and other advanced technologies.
