Title
Graphitic C3N4 based nanostructures for photocatalytic decomposition of nitrous oxide
Code
GA16-10527S
Summary
Nitrous oxide belongs into a group of substances that deplete the ozone layer and contribute to the greenhouse effect. Moreover, it remains in the atmosphere for a long time. One possibility, how to reduce their concentration, is its photocatalytic decomposition into nitrogen and oxygen. One promising and rarely tested photocatalysts are graphitized C3N4 (g-C3N4) and its combination with other semiconductors in the form of composite nanostructures. This project focuses on the g-C3N4 and its composite nanostructures with other semiconductors such as TiO2, WO3, SnO2, and BiVO4 BiIO4. Prepared nanostructures will be tested for the photocatalytic decomposition of nitrous oxide. The photocatalyst with the best efficiency will be looked for. Furthermore, it is assumed that new features g-C3N4 and its composite nanostructures will be discovered.
