Title
Assessment of nanoparticle pollution impact on plants
Code
SP2018/71
Summary
Plant material either collected (bryophytes Pleurozium schreberi, Hylocomium splendens or other suitable species) or cultivated in laboratory (tracheophytes Arabidopsis thaliana, Sinapis alba or other suitable species) is going to be exposed to the manufactured nanoparticles (nano-ZnO, nano-TiO2) in suspension or in simulated dry deposition. After the exposure, the amount of accumulated xenobiotics is going to be determined using spectroscopic methods and electron microscopy. Simultaneously, the level of physiological stress caused by the exposure to the nanoparticles is going to be assessed by analysis of the L-ascorbic acid concentration in the cells of the exposed plants (concentration is going to be determined by dichlorphenolindophenol titration or HPLC) and chlorophyl fluorescence analysis.
