Title
Materials for terahertz and infrared photonics
Code
SP2019/92
Summary
The project focuses on the study of materials and metamaterials with prospective use in terahertz and infrared optics. In particular on materials that can improve or replace current materials used for active terahertz and infrared optical elements such as electrooptic crystals for the generation and detection of THz pulses, nonlinear crystals for frequency mixing and frequency multiplication, and THz and IR modulators. These crystals will be prepared from organic molecular crystals and theirs salts. Project schedule: 1-3 / 2019: - Preparation of crystalline samples - Measurement of samples using optical ellipsometry 4-6 / 2019: - Preparation of crystalline samples, optimization of structure, analysis of structure with XRD - Preparation of advanced metamaterials using two photon polymerization - Measurement of samples using THz spectroscopy, FTIR and optical ellipsometry 7-9 / 2019: - Preparation of advanced metamaterials using two photon polymerization - Measurement of samples using THz spectroscopy and FTIR - Demonstration THz ellipsometry - DFT calculations 10-12 / 2019: - Study of nonlinear phenomena in the IR and THz spectral range - Evaluation of electrooptic effect - THz spectroscopy with visible and infrared optical pumping Expected Outputs: - at least 2 articles published in journals with impact factor - at least 3 publications in conference proceedings with active participation
