Title
Study and evaluation of vermiculite structures modified in role of nanofillers and substrates
Code
GAP210/11/2215
Summary
The goal of the project is study and characterization of vermiculite structures after mechanochemical procedures (grinding, cation exchange, organophilization, exfoliation, acid leaching, thermal treatment) that are essential for successful synthesis of vermiculite functional nanofillers and substrates. Vermiculite nanofiller exfoliated in polyethylene or polyurethane will be characterized along with the improved polymers characteristics (e.g. heat deflection temperature and flame retardance). The bacteriostatic vermiculite substrates of metal nanoparticles and/or organic compounds will be characterized as active nanofillers into polymers. Their evaluation will prosper to their further use in antibacterial composites. Vermiculites and their intercalates as admixtures in preceramic powders are supposed to be decisive for the formation of new forms of porous ceramic cordierite nanocomposites, which have not been studied in detail.
