Preparation of composite material based on polymer/metallic nanoparticles

Summary
The project will focus on the processes for optimizing the preparation of nanoparticles with antibacterial properties regarding the preparation of fibrous membranes with antibacterial properties. Modified synthesis process will be monitored with respect to particle morphology, phase composition, and stability. During sample optimization, analytical methods, such as electron microscopy or spectroscopic techniques, will be used to define the content of metal particles (especially silver) in the colloid. The ICP-MS method will be also used to determine the particle size distribution.
Then, Silver nanoparticles will be incorporated into the polymer fibers prepared in cooperation with the Technical University of Liberec and the 4Medi Innovations company in Ostrava. Antibacterial properties of pure silver nanoparticles in a defined concentration range will be compared with the fibers containing these nanoparticles.
