Title
Development of biocompatible nanocomposite materials with antimicrobial effects
Code
SP2019/23
Summary
The project builds on the team's research results achieved in the previous project SP2018/122 "Polymer composite materials with antimicrobial properties suitable for biomedical applications". The project will continue to prepare fillers with antimicrobial properties based on graphene, graphene oxide and possibly silicate materials, which will be further used for mixing with polymeric matrices, e.g., polylactic acid, copolymer of polylactic acid and polyglycolic acid and other biocompatible polymers to ensure the antimicrobial properties of the resulting composite materials. Antimicrobial properties will be tested in cooperation with the University of Ostrava (Prof. Malachová), mechanical properties will be tested in cooperation with TB University in Zlín (doc.Merinska) and the characterization of prepared materials will be performed using methods available in CNT - XRD, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy , STEM, DSC, chromatography, etc. Expected output of the project will be polymeric material with antimicrobial effects, suitable for applications especially in biomedical fields.
