Title
New functional fillers for nanocomposite materials
Code
SP2020/70
Summary
The SGS project builds on the results achieved by the principal investigator and some of the co-investigators in previous projects SP2018/122 and SP2019/23. The project will prepare nanofillers based on carbon nanomaterials and clay minerals suitable for the preparation of multifunctional polymer composite materials with different application potential: as antimicrobial materials for biomedical applications, including hydrogels and coatings, as composites for 3D printing, as composite materials with so-called "Self-sensing" properties for construction materials. The project will develop cooperation with CSIC / ICTP Madrid, Spain (Dr. Fernandez-Garcia, preparation of polymers and hydrogel), University of Salerno (Prof. Guadagno, testing of nanocomposite properties), Northumbria University, Newcastle (Dr. Zabiegaj, characterization of fillers and composites), ENSTA Bretagne (Dr. Tarfaoui, modeling mechanical properties). Within the Czech Republic, cooperation with Tomas Bata University in Zlín (doc. D. Měřínská, polymer preparation) and the University of Ostrava (prof. Malachová, antimicrobial tests) will continue. Cooperation within VŠB-TUO, especially the Nanotechnology Center, will be used in the field of characterization of prepared products by AFM, STEM, XRD, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, TGA, DSC etc.
