Preparation of nanofillers and nanocomposites based on layered materials for use in Li batteries

Summary
The research project will prepare, characterize and test the functional properties of materials that will serve as nanofillers for clay mineral based nanocomposites that should be used for lithium ion batteries. In the first phase of the project selected clay minerals will be modified in order to make the structure available for further treatment. The modified clay minerals will be further enriched with Li cations. Subsequently, selected polymers will be used to prepare polymer / clay mineral nanocomposites, mainly by the in-situ method. Another prepared material will be exfoliated graphite, which will be enriched with silver particles to improve the conductivity of the nanofiller. The prepared materials will be characterized and their conductivity characteristics will be tested in order to choose the most suitable material for possible use in solid of electrolyte in Li-batteries.
