A delegation from Finnish universities visited Ostrava to see laboratories and research in the field of biomaterials and recycling.

At the Centre of Nanotechnology, we had the honor of welcoming a distinguished delegation from Finland. The representatives from LAB University of Applied Sciences and LUT University were formally received by Director Grażyna Simha Martynková, who, together with Štěpán Kment, introduced the guests to the CNT laboratories and presented the latest research achievements in the fields of renewable materials, nanomaterials, polymer membranes, biomaterial recycling, and batteries.

An open discussion was held on catalytic processes and the most recent advancements in single-atom engineering.

The program also included presentations by Finnish partners, who introduced the LAB Biofine project, where pilot research is directed towards biodegradation processes and the circular economy. Representatives of LAB University of Applied Sciences, led by Dean Janne Roslöf, Biofine Product Manager Liisa Peri, and Project Manager Teemu Piesanen, together with colleagues from LUT University, shared their expertise and visions on bridging research with industrial practice and strengthening cooperation across Europe.

The visit confirmed a strong interest in collaboration in the areas of circular economy, biomaterials, and sustainable energy, which are also the focus of the joint projects CirkArena and Refresh.
