26. 11. 2025 News
On November 20, 2025, the MEET project organized a second joint meeting of researchers and partners at VŠB–TUO, where the team presented its latest results in the field of materials for energy in connection with the socio-economic impact in our region.

Second meeting of the MEET project consortium at VŠB–TUO

On November 20, 2025, the second meeting of the MEET project consortium – Advanced Materials for Energy and Environmental Technologies (reg. no. CZ.02.01.01/00/23_021/0008592) – took place at VŠB–TUO. The event followed up on previous joint activities and provided an opportunity to assess the current state of the project, coordinate planned steps, and deepen cooperation between individual research teams.

The meeting program was designed to last the whole day. The morning part was devoted to presentations of individual research projects, during which the project partners presented their results to date, progress in solving problems, and experience gained over the past months. At the same time, they had the opportunity to obtain feedback from representatives of the application sphere.

The following speakers represented VŠB–TUO: Sylva Holešová, Gražyna S. Martynková, Kamil Postava, Bedřich Smetana, and Vlastimil Novák. Simona Bartošová Šťastná presented the results on behalf of the University of Ostrava for Jana Ženka's team.

Csaba Boros from Borospace, s.r.o. spoke on behalf of partners from the application sphere on the topic of rocket fuel energy.

After the lunch break, the program continued with roundtable discussions, where experiences were shared on key points of the project solution and further milestones between project teams were specified. The meeting took place in a constructive and creative atmosphere.

The MEET project is funded by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports as part of the Jan Amos Komenský Operational Program. It receives additional support from the ITI Ostravsko regional call, which contributes to the development of research infrastructure and strengthens the region's competitiveness in the field of advanced materials.

Research focus and project teams

The project focuses on industrial research into advanced materials, nanomaterials, and nanocomposites that can be used in energy and environmental technologies. The project is divided into five interrelated research areas, which aim to bring new knowledge, methodologies, and applications to the energy sector and related industries. These are:

  • Multifunctional materials and nanocomposites.
  • Advanced materials for the accumulation and storage of electrical energy
  • Experimental methods and research into materials for solar energy conversion
  • Energy materials, materials for the accumulation and transport of thermal energy

Socio-economic barriers to the implementation of technologies based on advanced materials in the Ostrava metropolitan area

The project is led by the Nanotechnology Centre, CEET, VŠB–TUO, which provides technical and administrative coordination. Other academic partners include the Institute of Geonics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, together with the University of Ostrava.

Cooperation with application partners, including Borospace, s.r.o., MSIC a.s., the Ministry of Regional Development, and J. E. Purkyně University, supports the transfer of research results into practice and strengthens the regional innovation ecosystem.
