The Centre for Energy and Environmental Technologies VSB-TUO, the Institute of Environmental Technologies, in cooperation with Instytut Technologii Paliw i Energii (IPTE)
is launching a new project focused on improving air quality in the border region of the Czech Republic and Poland.
The "O ovzduší společně / O powietrzu razem" project (T.052.04.0062) aims to create an interactive online platform for the residents of our region and carry out a campaign focused on raising awareness about air quality. This project combines measurements of indoor air quality in enclosed spaces (schools, offices, apartments) and outdoor air quality, providing specific recommendations for improving air quality in both environments.
Measurements will be carried out at ten locations in the Czech Republic and ten in Poland, with half of the measurements focused on indoor environments and the other half on outdoor air. The main outcomes of the project will include electronic and printed information available through websites, offering not only data on air quality but also practical tips for improving health and environmental quality. The project will also highlight the Sick Building Syndrome and the risks associated with poor indoor air quality.
Despite improvements in air quality in the border areas between the Czech Republic and Poland since 2019, this region remains a concern. With stricter limits set for 2030, there is an emphasis on continuing to improve conditions for health and the environment.
The project is supported by the Small Projects Fund within the Interreg Czech Republic – Poland Program 2021-2027, which promotes cross-border cooperation between the Czech Republic and Poland in the fields of environmental protection and public health.
