Zuzana Jankovská from the Institute of Environmental Technology, which is part of the Centre for Energy and Environmental Technologies, successfully completed a week-long internship at the Institute of Chemistry and Processes for Energy, Environment and Health (ICPEES), University of Strasbourg.
The aim of this international trip was to foster global cooperation within the project "Research of Novel Sustainable Approaches for Zeolites and Hybrid Zeolite–Carbon Structures Synthesis for Catalytic and Sorption Applications" (8J25FR017).
During the internship, the researcher participated in drafting a scientific publication focused on the development and application of carbon-zeolite sorbents and biochars prepared from various types of waste materials. The newly developed materials (sorbents) will subsequently be tested for removing pollutants from the air, specifically carbon dioxide and xylene.
The obtained sorption results will be correlated with the textural, structural, and surface properties of the prepared materials, aiming to clarify the influence of these parameters on adsorption efficiency.
"The internship at the ICPEES university in Strasbourg allowed me to meet face-to-face with colleagues I have been cooperating with for a long time, and to get to know their working environment while visiting laboratories across the entire institute. I highly value our joint discussions over the upcoming publication, which helped us share experience, discuss research results, and further develop our cooperation," Zuzana Jankovská describing her experience.
The internship represents another step forward in developing international scientific links and opens the door for preparing further joint projects in the field of sustainable waste management and air protection.
