Partnerships and Services

CEET maintains long-term and intensive cooperation with the public sector and industrial partners across a wide range of sectors, primarily through contract research and joint research and development projects. CEET’s research infrastructure and state-of-the-art equipment provide its researchers with the facilities and capacity to conduct research across numerous fields and support the effective transfer of technologies from academia to commercial applications. CEET accounts for more than half of VSB-TUO’s total volume of cooperation with industry.

Forms of Cooperation

The Centre for Energy and Environmental Technologies (CEET) at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava has a long-standing commitment to close cooperation with the application sector, actively linking cutting-edge research with the needs of industry and the public sector. We not only maintain existing partnerships but also systematically expand and deepen them through joint research projects, contract research and technology transfer. Through close cooperation with approximately 450 to 500 companies each year, VSB – Technical University of Ostrava ranks among the leading public research organisations in the Czech Republic. CEET makes a significant contribution to this achievement and confirms its role as one of the key partners for innovation in the fields of energy, the environment and sustainable development.

Cooperation with industrial partners, public authorities and other organisations is an integral part of CEET’s activities. We offer several forms of cooperation that can be tailored to the specific needs of each partner – from contract research and joint research projects to technology transfer, expert consultancy and access to our laboratory facilities. Each form of cooperation offers specific benefits and is suited to different types of partnerships and objectives.

Bachelor’s / Master’s / Doctoral Theses

Addressing a specific technical challenge or validating a new approach with minimal risk can deliver rapid improvements to processes, products or technologies while also serving as a basis for broader cooperation.

Characteristics of Cooperation

Low personnel and financial requirements for the partner.
Opportunity for long-term cooperation with a student and early identification of talented potential employees.
Expert supervision by an experienced academic who oversees the work and provides professional guidance.
Regular communication between the partner, thesis supervisor and student throughout the project.
Long-term cooperation reflecting the type of study programme – approximately 1 year for Bachelor’s theses, 2 years for Master’s theses and 3–4 years for doctoral theses.
Results depend on the student’s progress and capabilities and may therefore vary in scope and quality.
Thesis topics are generally assigned in late May or early June.

Joint Research Project Funded by a Grant Agency

Addressing complex technological challenges, developing innovative solutions or validating new approaches with strong application potential. This form of cooperation allows partners to share both expertise and financial costs and provides scope for long-term research and development. It is particularly suitable where public disclosure of the achieved results does not prevent their future use.

Characteristics of Cooperation

Sharing the costs of research and development through public funding.
Possibility of covering part of the personnel costs of the partner’s employees involved in the project.
Access to state-of-the-art instrumentation, laboratories and expert capacities of CEET and VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Long-term cooperation, typically within projects lasting approximately three years.
Joint preparation of the project proposal and identification of a suitable funding programme.
Project funding depends on success in a competitive public funding call and therefore cannot be guaranteed in advance.
Publicly funded projects are subject to the rules of the funding provider, including requirements concerning the publication of selected results.

Direct Cooperation through an Order or Contract

Contract research is suitable for addressing technical challenges of varying complexity, ranging from rapid expert consultations and targeted analyses completed within a few weeks to comprehensive research and development tasks lasting several months. It is particularly appropriate when a partner requires specialised know-how, access to state-of-the-art equipment, or expert capabilities that are not normally available within their own organisation.

Access to a wide range of state-of-the-art instrumentation, laboratories and expert capacities of CEET and VSB – Technical University of Ostrava.
Flexible solutions to technical challenges, with an emphasis on rapid implementation and the practical applicability of results.
The results of contract research are intended exclusively for the client, in accordance with the contractual terms and the agreed arrangements for the use of results.
Implementation costs reflect the scope of the task, the expert capacities involved and the research infrastructure used.
Project schedules are agreed individually, taking into account the availability of specialist teams and specialised research equipment.
