The group carries out research, development and testing in the field of thermal-energy equipment for interior space heating up to an output of about 300 kW. In an excellently equipped testing laboratory, devices are examined as a whole unit so that as a source of thermal energy including the parts out of the devices such as a flue gas path and operators as well. The basic activities are devoted to maximizing efficiency and minimizing pollutant emissions, special attention is paid to the design of new methods for their determination. Optimization of emission parameters of the source is solved by both primary and secondary measures. The group also includes the laboratory of fuels.
