Research and characterisation of materials for energy storage and related applications

The centre's research infrastructure enables the use of a wide range of methods, including electron microscopy, spectroscopy, surface analysis, thermal analysis, electrochemical measurements, and other specialised techniques. These methods provide detailed information on morphology, chemical composition, surface properties, conductivity, electrochemical response, and the behaviour of materials under load.

In addition to its research activities, the centre also fulfils an important educational and training role. It provides a robust professional environment for early-career researchers, doctoral candidates, and students, who gain practical experience here in modern methods of characterisation, testing, and development of nanomaterials. Direct contact with state-of-the-art instrumentation and experienced experts supports the development of a new generation of researchers in the fields of advanced materials, energy, and environmental technologies.

By combining advanced instrumentation, material know-how, and an educational mission, the centre creates a strong foundation for the development of novel materials with targeted properties. The research results are primarily directed towards the areas of energy storage and conversion, environmental protection, functional surfaces, sensor systems, and other high-tech applications.

Consequently, the Nanotechnology Centre is not merely an analytical facility, but a comprehensive research and training infrastructure that supports the creation of innovative material solutions and the development of young talent to tackle today's energy and environmental challenges.

Nanotechnology Centre

The Nanotechnology Centre is a key component of the Centre for Energy and Environmental Technologies (CEET) and represents a modern research facility focused on the development, characterisation, and testing of advanced materials at the nano- and microscale. Through its activities, it aims to rank among respected institutions in the field of materials for energy applications, environmental technologies, and sustainable solutions.

The centre integrates state-of-the-art instrumentation, professional expertise, and application-oriented research. It focuses on the synthesis, modification, and detailed characterisation of nanomaterials, advanced composites, and functional surfaces. Emphasis is placed not only on describing the structure and composition of materials, but also on verifying their functional behaviour, stability, reactivity, and other unique parameters crucial for their practical application.
