Abstract

The N2O removal process using a catalyst prepared by calcination of beta cobalt hydroxide and subsequent cesium modification can be used to reduce N2O emissions in the waste gases. In addition to the waste gases from nitric acid production, these are also waste gases from the production of glyoxal, caprolactam, combustion processes and others.
Compared to the catalysts published in the literature, the catalyst from the invention has a higher activity and at the same time it does not contain precious metals. It is therefore more economically advantageous.
The catalyst was verified in a pilot plant of CHEMOPROJEKT CHEMICALS Ltd. connected to the waste gas from nitric acid production as part of the TA CR TA01020336 project.
